Let’s stop fighting against ourselves & relying on discipline and willpower to create change.

I believe that one of the most simple things we can do to make change easier and dramatically accelerate our rate of progress is: ask better questions.
I hate to quote motivational speakers here but they make a couple of good points:

  • Tim Ferriss says that if you want uncommon results, ask uncommonly clear questions.
  • Tony Robbins says that the quality of your life depends on the quality of the questions you ask yourself.
  • You can also add to that “and the honesty with which you answer & frequency with which you ask”!

9 times out of 10 you don’t need a new exercise challenge, a new meal plan, a new class/pt/membership, a new shiny thing to help us achieve our goals when we feel “stuck” or not seeing results.

Because how many times have we started that new challenge/program/”detix”/”shred” and ever really finished it??? ?? (by the way I’m not encouraging anyone to do a detox or shred!)
What we need to do is work on the un-sexy, the un-glamorous, the “boring” – we need to work on daily consistency and we do that by ASKING OURSELVES BETTER QUESTIONS.
We are doing that work this month.

By getting critical about what we are actually thinking and doing, we make better decisions and actions that move us closer towards our goals.

We need to tackle the roadblocks that seemingly keep us “stuck” (hitting snooze, not doing the workout, made an unhealthy choice then spirals into a blowout day/days/week)
Ask why we are talking ourselves into or out of decisions that move us away from our goals (“I’ve been so good today, I deserve the chocolate, biscuit, ice cream” OR “I’ve had a huge day, I’m tired, I need an early night, I’m going to skip the workout” {but still stay up late catching up” on things} )
Be realistic about the daily habits that are controlled by our past (or future) (I have a few good days then I ALWAYS blowout and have to eat ALL the things OR after the holidays I’ll start/this month is so hectic at work to focus on nutrition, I just cant do it atm)
These are some I use that I reckon you could use too ( are my faves):

1. What can I do to make today better than yesterday?

2. What can I do to make today an “A+” day?

3. How can I push myself today?

4. How will I reduce or refuse distractions?

5. What is a middle ground between my excuse & my intentions?

6. What have I been putting off that I can accomplish today?

7. What choices can I make today that will move me in the direction I want to go?

8. What will I do today to raise my standards?

9. What will I practice improving today?

10. What will I do to step outside of my comfort zone today?

11. What can I do right now to make myself feel proud?

12. How am I going to feel after this choice?

13. What is my best choice in this moment?

14. What feels hard now but will make tomorrow easier?

15. If I say “yes” to this, what am I saying “no” to?

16. Is this an opportunity to be seized or a temptation to be resisted?

17. What do I really need in this moment?

18. What do I need to let go of?
